About This Project
Built a React Native mobile application for HDM that transformed their Instagram-only presence into a dedicated platform for discovering halal dining options across Manchester. The app features structured restaurant listings, intuitive navigation, category browsing, and a clean UX that puts discovery first.
The app gave HDM's audience a dedicated home beyond social media — a structured, searchable platform for discovering halal dining in Manchester. Every screen was designed with the end user in mind, prioritising speed of discovery and clarity of information. The move from Instagram to a native app unlocked features that social media simply cannot support: saved favourites, location-based browsing, and a consistent brand experience across every interaction.
Challenge
HDM had built a loyal Instagram following around halal dining recommendations in Manchester, but the platform offered no structured way for users to browse, search, or save restaurants. Growth was capped by the limitations of social media.
Approach
We designed a React Native architecture optimised for restaurant discovery — clear categories, fast search, and an intuitive UX that mirrored how users actually find food. Every design decision was driven by reducing the time from open to discovery.
Execution
Delivered in iterative sprints with live demos after each cycle. The app structure was built to scale — new restaurant listings can be added without touching the codebase. Final delivery included both iOS and Android builds with full QA.
